I cleaned up my portfolio a little bit as well as fixed/changed the contact and a couple of styles. There were some sites that have either changed dramatically since I've worked on them or did not exist anymore. Besides, I only need a handful of my best works to show what I'm capable of. Just know that although I've only worked in NYC for about 2.5 years now, I've got a ton of experience under my belt, even from before my career officially began. I'm currently accepting small freelance projects, e.g. portfolios, blogs, microsites, email templates, Facebook fan pages, etc. I'm trying to get some more fun and creative projects back on my plate while I've got a bit of free time. Things that don't require heavy duty back-end programming are all fair game. Edit: I've removed a couple sites as to make sure that they are approved by Convo first. Also, some works have a NDA that I was not aware of, so I've promptly removed any of those in violation. Sorry for any inconvenience for people viewing! I've got to make sure that there are no legal issues or confusion.

I'm not really an avid celebrator of Christmas, as with most holidays that don't include costumes or an excuse to go on a Pub Crawl, but here is my techy Christmas list for all my friends and family members who are completely clueless as to what to get me for Christmas and INSISTS on getting me gifts anyway. If I've specifically told you to stop buying me things because I hate them, then you fall into that category. If for some reason just giving me cash isn't good enough for you, so I can do practical adult things like pay bills, keep my hair maintained, and buy crap for my apartment, and you want to be able to wrap it up in pretty wrapping, then feel free to buy me one or all of the following:

I'm trying to stay practical here, and I literally have no use for an overpriced, shiny smart phone. Everything else is fair game, except replace the Kindle 2 with the aforementioned Kindle Fire. I also don't want or need a boob mousepad or book full of kittens. God of War art is cool, though.

Occupy Wall Street Occupy Wall Street

For anyone who hasn't been paying attention in the world, there is a movement going on. If you don't know what it's about, I feel sorry for you. For those of you who know about it at all, I stand with the 99%. I have been looking for outlets through which I can assist the movement. The easiest thing for me at the moment is lend my talents to the cause and to its members. Feel free to contact me with any questions, advice, or projects concerning web and multimedia. I had been working on Auxiliary Bay and got a full-time position at Conversation Agency doing Development. I'm no longer working on AuxBay or taking on Freelance outside of my agency--if so I'm being extremely selective about it because I simply don't have the time and my resources are always being stretched thin. Most people I know are fully employed or have changed career paths (like have gone into motion graphics/animation).

The Past Few Months The Past Few Months

Over the last 3 months I've been pretty busy with a few big projects at GCM. I've had the opportunity to learn a lot, specifically with ASP.Net/Visual Studio and interfacing with Twitter and Facebook. I've never had to get my hands on that too much in the past. Luckily for me, I was able to dive into working with the latest versions, so I've become semi-proficient with basic ASP.net development in Razor such as creating views, models, passing models into views, and other operations like form validation, etc. My JQuery as really improved as has my HTML5 exposure since I had the luxury of using it in each new project I started. However, this chapter is coming to a close. This is the life of a web developer that I've adjusted to. I think the exposure to multiple work environments has been stressful, but beneficial. Eventually I will have to face the inevitable and freelance full-time or start my own agency. Until then, I'm accepting new projects and challenges.

Contract Update Contract Update

I'ts been approximately a month since I last decided to write an update. I've been working as a contractor for approximately a month now for Glass Ceiling Media as well as doing some freelance work here and there. I appreciate your inquiries, but I hardly have the time for new projects, especially anything that will be labor intensive. If anything, I will opt in for small personal projects or something with no concrete deadline. Rugby season is upon us, and I do have a life outside of working 10+ hours a day. Thanks, but no thanks to hiring me for the next month or two.

Too Much Free Time Too Much Free Time

Since I'm currently looking for (a) new job(s) I've had some time to try to add a bit more variety to my portfolio as well as make this IE6 compatible as well as Android/iPhone compatible. Yes, IE6. Not because I like it, or because I condone the usage of a crappy outdated browser, but just to prove that I can so that it looks good to those who still for some reason want to support that god-foresaken browser. If you have IE6, feel free to check it out yourself. It looks mostly identical. The mobile versions aren't perfect, but I wanted to do a bit of experimentation. Who knows, with all this free time I may just scrap it and do something else later on. P.S. If you need a Front-End Web Developer, hire me. =)

It has occurred to me that some of the websites I was working on have been launched, so feel free to visit some of the now live sites. I've also decided to put agency credits with the descriptions as to recognize the many individuals that I work/have worked with make this all possible. It's certainly not a one-woman-show.

After 4 years of tedious, laughably remedial, and other University work and 2 of those years consisting of mostly unrelated (and sometimes completely useless) classes, I realized that sometimes college really isn't all it's cracked up to be when going into a field like Web Development. While I did benefit in other aspects from formal education, I mostly taught myself more about (current) Web Development standards and techniques or learned them while working than what I learned in classes that are still showing people how to make a table in HTML (my first Web Design class didn't even TOUCH CSS and I had to take an elective class to learn that, the other web classes taught Flash. Who's really using Flash anymore with HTML5 on the rise?!). If you're looking to learn web and are considering attending a university, you might want to read this article.

Mostly all I've been doing lately is mostly working on all these projects that already exist in this portfolio. So if for some reason you feel empty inside due to lack of updates here, I'm always reading articles in between tasks, so check out my Twitter. Some things are quite humorous, especially for those of us dorks who enjoy development/programming humor. I actually USE Twitter now. Hell most have frozen over twice!

I 've added all the things I've been working on since working at Resoluted Digital and CareerMD. Today, I will be having dinner with Ohio University Multimedia Society students. Before I moved to NYC I was a part of this group. Every year they make a trip to NYC to see what kind of media and visual communications opportunities they have by visiting alumni in the field and, of course, to have some fun in the Big Apple. What better way to show them what I've been up to than to have actual images of most of my work.

I 'm getting a little better and more clever with this PHP business. Yay for efficiency! Check back soon, I will add a few more websites I've been working on. I'm always switching back and forth between multiple projects making tweaks all over the place, so I have a hard time remembering that I actually completed anything. Many of them haven't launched yet, but I can at least give you a tiny preview (by way of a thumbnail and not the development server).

As of right now I don't have any time to mess with Wordpress and integrating my site into it, but I've still managed to make it easier upon myself by doing a little bit of my own PHP work and getting a contact form in and using a few includes. If this language means nothing to you, then just assume that I know what I'm doing. If you know what I'm talking about, please refrain from calling me a n00b. =) I'm still looking for inspiration for my freelance page, so bear with me.

I've also had an overwhelming amount of deadlines lately, so trying to work or do any research has been out of the question. If I even have time, I'm too exhausted. I think I've finally caught a break this week, so I should be able to make some progress. I'll post them in my portfolio as soon as I get a chance.

New Website New Website

This site is under construction but feel free to look at the work in my porfolio. I was sick of the Flash website and wanted to upgrade to using any CSS3 and HTML5 that I can. Right now, it's pretty straight-forward, but I just wanted to get the site up and running in a new light. I've been far too busy doing other people's work to complete a personal project, but now is the time. Enjoy!
